Fox Discusses Future of Academic Publishing

By Marketing and Communications | 04-25-2016

The Texas A&M University Libraries will be hosting Mr. Justin Fox, Bloomberg View columnist, for a discussion on the future of academic publishing including future roles of for profit and open access journals.

“I am pleased to have Mr. Fox visit and discuss a topic that is so relevant to all of us in academia" said David Carlson, Dean of University Libraries. “Academic publishing models including Open Access will allow universities and especially libraries to better disseminate a wider range of scholarship as well as provide opportunities to provide educational materials at a savings for the undergraduate student.”

Before starting at Bloomberg View in January, 2015, Fox served as editorial director and executive director of the Harvard Business Review. He is the author of The Myth of the Rational Market: A History of Risk, Reward, and Delusion on Wall Street. Previously, Fox spent more than a decade at Fortune magazine. He was senior fellow at Harvard Kennedy School and a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum.

The Libraries will host Mr. Fox on May 12, from 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm in Sterling C. Evans Library, Room 204E. The talk is open to all at no cost. Light refreshments will be provided.
